Bolga baskets are handmade in farming villages in the Bolgatanga region of northern Ghana, and are perhaps the best known of all African baskets. They are woven from durable elephant grass. Each purchase helps provide the farmers and weavers in the region with a sustainable way of living.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: Each basket is hand-woven from natural elephant grass. Some variation in size, color and shape is normal. Each basket is absolutely unique and may differ from the picture. The leather handles are hand-sewn and each one will be slightly different. 

RESHAPING YOUR BASKET: Bolga baskets are shipped packed un-shaped to save space and reduce the shipping cost. To reshape your basket, submerge it in warm water. Allow the water to soak in. Allowing the water to completely soak in makes the basket very pliable. Let most of the excess water drain from the basket and place the basket on a flat surface for shaping. Push out the bottom of the basket and begin to hand-mold the basket until you achieved your desired shape. The entire shaping process takes just a few minutes. Allow the basket to dry completely before use.
